Housing Ends Homelessness

On Tuesday August 5, 2025, member agencies of the CHHA will be bringing the Houses at Parliament campaign to Ballarat, with a local display at the bottom of Sturt Street near the Bridge Street Mall.

With a message for parliament and policy makers that “Housing Ends Homelessness” we hope to display over 6000 origami houses to represent the number of houses Victoria needs to build every year for the next 10 years to end homelessness. The origami houses will be folded by community sector practitioners and consumers, and members of the community.

This peaceful event commences as 12 noon and will include a Welcome to Country, speeches and songs from a Community Choir. We have invited Media and local Members of Parliament and members of the community to help send this message that the Central Highlands community is committed to work with the government, councils and the sector to build more social and affordable homes and end homelessness in our region.

The Central Highlands Homelessness Alliance acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of all the lands on which we meet and work. We pay our respects to First Nations peoples and elders past and present. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
