In support of raising awareness of homelessness, during Homelessness Week, 16 primary schools from the Central Highlands participated in a Free Dress Day and each child donated a can of food for a local community charity.

Homelessness Information was provided to the schools for inclusion the school's newsletters and for discussion in

class, and resource books Charlie’s Storey and Uncle Willie and the Soup Kitchen were provided for the library.

The event proved to be a huge success with many cans donated and gratefully

accepted at local charities, including the soup kitchen, food bank and local

emergency relief facilities. A BIG THANK YOU to all the wonderful students who

participated, your kindness is making a difference for someone who needs help.

This event will be held again next year, and if your school would like to

participate please contact us at: michelle.twigger@vt.uniting.org

The Central Highlands Homelessness Alliance acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of all the lands on which we meet and work. We pay our respects to First Nations peoples and elders past and present. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
